Color My World Yellow!

Here is my yellow star for the Color My World Challenge over at Quilt Matters.

This one was easy for some reason.  The first fabrics I picked worked out perfectly so I didn't need to search for different yellows or audition them in different spots.  I am really pleased with the outcome!

Here are my four stars so far.

Don't they look great together?!

Blue

Two weeks ago I showed you 2 baby quilts I had been working on for one of my dad's co-workers.

Well, she picked the blue one!!

My mom did a great job quilting it, as usual!

Here's the label.

The quilt is for a little boy who turned 1 yesterday!  He will receive his quilt at his birthday party today.  I hope he likes it!

Edit:  I have linked up to TGIFF at Quokka Quilts.  Check out her really cute little helpers modeling on her latest finish!

Hexies...

I've been trying to fight off a really bad cold this week but haven't been too sick to work on some pretty little hexie flowers.

I am hoping to do a little bit more sewing today.  Maybe sew my star block for the Color My World challenge or start putting the final borders on my Friendship Star quilt for my bed... we'll see what I feel up to by the time I get in my sewing room.

What are you working on today?

Please vote!

Yes, I have done it again!  I entered another quilt in the weekly Quilt Contest at The Quilting Gallery!

These contests are so much fun!  I really love seeing everyone's quilts!

So this weeks theme was Just Squares and Rectangles.  Naturally I entered this quilt:

I truly appreciate it!!

Dresdens

A month ago I joined the Quilters Day Swap over at Handmade by Heidi.  I have been working on my swap item for my partner and am almost done!  But I can't show it to you yet, so....

The other thing I worked on today was my dresdens!!  Dresden Plates are one of my all-time favorite quilt patterns.  I absolutely LOVE making dresden plates!!

Last Saturday, I was getting ready to go to my daughter's gymnastics class and thought maybe some handwork would be more interesting than a book.  So I grabbed my Omnigrid tote and away I went.
I finished appliquéing the last of 9 dresden plates that were in my tote.  I had fabric picked out for 3 more (obviously to make it a total of 12 blocks), so earlier this week, I cut those out.

A year ago, this is where I was at:

Today, I sewed this one together:

And pressed these:

Hopefully I will be able to finish these soon, and actually work on a layout for the quilt top!
I am hoping to make this into a quilt for my bed.

Baby Quilts

This is what I have been doing this week...

...working on 2 baby quilt tops.
One of my dad's co-workers would like a quilt for a little boy so I made these two quilts in hopes that she will like one of them.  She wanted bigger than crib size, so I made them lap size.  I still have the borders to sew on to the Max & Whiskers quilt.

Have a good weekend!

Color My World Black

Phew!  I did it!  A little late but done nonetheless!

Here is my black star for the Color My World Challenge over at M-R's.

Black was the color for March.

Let me tell you, this was a REAL challenge!  I don't use much black in my quilts unless they are for a border or binding, so finding fabrics for this one was tough!  I even "borrowed" some from my mom's stash.
I must say that I am very happy with the end result.  It looks just like I pictured it in my head.  I love it when a plan comes together!

I have already pulled out some fabric for this month's block which will be yellow.  It should be easier, and I should be on time with this one!

Happy Monday!

A Tisket A Tasket: Done!

Another one off the UFO list!!

I am so excited that this quilt is finished!!  I only have the label left to put on.
I started this quilt back in 2009.  It was a BOM over at Bunny Hill Designs.
I had a lot of fun picking the fabrics for each block and then doing the machine applique.

My mom did an amazing job with the machine quilting!  Thanks Mom!!

Have a great weekend and Happy Easter!!

Tonight

Last week was rough... got called in to work and had a little one who wasn't feeling 100%.

I have been working really hard on my challenge for the Guild but I can't show it to you until next month, so here is what I have been doing tonight...

I am hoping to have it done by Friday for TGIFF.
