Last week was a difficult one around these parts. We lost a terrific lady. My 89 year old grandmother Jeanne Dumont passed away on June 27.
As some of you know, I am a fourth generation quilter. I have spent a lot of my 19 quilting years, sharing this passion with both my mom and my wonderful Grandmother, Jeanne. If you don't mind, I would like to share with you some of the quilts my grandmother made. I guess it is a little tribute to the fantastic quilter she was.

These last 2 quilts were made in 2012. My Grandmother loved sewing and quilting, and she did so until the last few weeks of her life.
These are some cuddle quilts she sewed up this past winter.
I enjoyed sharing my passion for quilting with my sweet grandmother. I am sure I will think of her often as I continue creating with fabric and thread.

Aw, Ginette, I'm so sorry for your loss! She sounds like a terrific lady and was a fabulous quilter!
ReplyDeleteMy sincerest condolences on your Grandmother's passing - so hard to lose a loved one. What a lovely idea to share her work here with us - thank you for that. I love her Bricks and Stepping Stones with that wonderful green colour mixed in. She did beautiful work, a wonderful tribute. xx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that sad news,Ginette. She sounds a wonderful woman and she was a very talented quilter - with a great eye for colour. Your pictures are a great tribute to her and how fabulous to share such a love of quilting through the generations! The physical resemblance is striking too! Thinking of you.xx
ReplyDeleteVery sorry for your loss, Ginette; how fortunate you are to have shared the passion. And for her to have been able to continue with her art until the near the end is fabulous. My mother, just ten years younger has had to give it up due to Alzheimer's and arthritis and it makes me sad. She looks longingly at my work and remembers that she could in the past and doesn't understand why she can't do it today.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tribute, Ginette. Your grandmother did beautiful work. I very much admire how your family shares the art of quilting. You were fortunate to learn from the best (your Mom included). Sorry for your loss.
