Color My World Pink!

This month's color for the Color My World Challenge was pink.

I love pink!  I like it even more since giving birth to my two girls.
I was really looking forward to this month, mainly because I love playing with pink fabrics!

So here is my pink star and I am so happy with it!
I had so much fun with this star and I even finished it a week and a half ago, that's a record!

If you want to see what others have done with this great color head on over to Quilt Matters

Next month the color is white!  I am glad this month was easy because I am already stressing out over August's block!

TGIFF and another start!

I finished the binding on this guy this week:

I love these fabrics!  They are so bright and cheery!
I told you about this quilt here a couple of weeks ago.  Well, I managed to sell it and it will be the perfect playmat for a little baby girl due at the end of August.

I was also asked to make a bigger one in the same fabrics for her crib/toddler bed.  So here are the beginnings of another baby quilt!

I am also putting borders on this quilt:

Hoping to get this one done soon... the baby is already 4 months old!

I am linking up to TGIFF over at Stop That Owl.  Be sure to head on over and check out some other fantasic finishes!

Super Mario Bros. QAL

As I mentioned before, I am participating in the Super Mario Bros. QAL over at Cut To Pieces.

My 6 year old had fun laying out the pieces.  It is going to be her pillow.
 She is so excited!
This is before any seams were sewn.  It measured approximately 27"x27".
This is after sewing the seams in one direction.
And here he is all done!  He is no longer square... he measures approximately 18"x19".  I think it is because I took a scant 1/4" seam allowance and because of the bulk of the fusible interfacing.  He is cute anyways.  My daughter loves him!
She picked a red crackle fabric for the back of the pillow and I will embroider "Here we go!" on it before putting it together.  Hoping to finish it some time this weekend!
Next week we will start working on Luigi!

A short update

Sorry I have been MIA!  We have been enjoying some well deserved family time this past week as my husband is on holidays!
Next week we are off to a friend's cottage so sewing time will be minimal.

Just thought I would let you know that I have been in my studio a few times in the past week:

Sneak Peak!
This is a quilt top I finished sewing last night.  It still needs borders.  Will tell you more about it at a later date.

Started cutting for the Super Mario Bros QAL!
My daughter is super excited for the Super Mario Bros QAL!  (Click here to find out more about it!)  I am trying to finish cutting the squares so she can lay them out on the fusible interfacing.

Baby Quilt!
Monday morning I was able to go to my mom's and quilt this little baby quilt!  I am so pleased with how it turned out!  It is a pattern by Elizabeth Hartman, for SewMamaSew, that you can find here.  Unfortunately it shrunk quite a bit when I quilted it and turns out to be too small for the baby it was meant for.  That means I have to make another!!  Awwww! ;)  (Can you read the notes of sarcasm!  What a great excuse to make another quilt!)
I will be hand stitching the binding on this one next week at the cottage!

So, as well as working on some embroidered labels for some friends, that's what I've been working on.
Hope you are enjoying your summer!

Fabric!!

Cut To Pieces

As soon as I read that Angela was hosting this QAL I knew I had to join in!
My 6 year old daughter LOVES Mario and she is going to help me with this project.  I am thinking of making pillows for the game room instead of the quilt.  I thought it would be something fun to do over the summer.

Today we received our fabric!!

I can't wait for the QAL to start!!
