Sharing!

I am so excited that I got to teach a friend how to quilt this past weekend.

I made Catherine a quilt over 10 years ago.  This blue and white log cabin.

That's her son when he was just a baby (he's now 5!).

She asked my mom and I a few times this summer if we thought she could learn to quilt.  We told her we knew she could do it.  But no plans were made... until 2 weeks ago when she decided she would like a quilt for a certain someone and that she would like to help us make it.

I have to say I was so excited at the idea of teaching one of my friends the ins and outs of my addiction passion!

We met at my mom's and had so much fun!!  Catherine is a natural and really got bitten.

She managed to finish the top of her quilt.  Because she is in a hurry to get this project done, my mom will be quilting it for her and I will be binding it.

We did send her home with a pile of magazines and she has already picked her next project... a new quilt for her!!  We are all looking forward to our next "quilting party".

Isn't fun to share?!

Farmer's Wife Sampler

Early this summer I looked up The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt.  I was reading so much about it online and wanted to know what the big deal was.  I just loved it and thought it would be a great challenge.

I told my mom about it and she thought it was a great idea.  We then talked about it with some friends and three other ladies decided they wanted to join us in this project.  So we formed a little group and decided to meet and work on 2 blocks per week for the next year or so, until our quilts are done.

This was our 3rd week so we have 6 blocks so far.
Here are my blocks.

These are Sue's.

These are Alice's (my mom!).

These are Elaine's.

And finally, here are Joan's.

We are having so much fun getting together every week and working on this project!  I am looking forward to sharing our Farmer's Wife adventures with you!

A Finish!

I am really happy with my latest project.  It turned out beautifully!  It is inspired from a pattern of a door banner in McCall's Quilting Quick Quilts magazine from March 2000.

It is a small wallhanging.  I machine appliqued using a buttonhole stitch.  I then machine quilted in a cross-hatching pattern using invisible thread.

Don't forget the label!!  (I will post more about this in the near future.)

And here it is in it's new home... my kitchen!!

I Did It!!

Well, I have finally done it!  I have joined the world of bloggers!

I think this will be a great place for me to share all of my quilting projects and ideas, and hopefully make some new friends at the same time.

I am also hoping this will help me finish up some of my UFOs or WIPs.  I have way too many of those and am thinking this blog might make me feel more accountable and I might actually get stuff done!

I have been working on these blocks for the past few days... getting the machine applique done.  They are from a Block of the Month offered by Bunny Hill Designs back in 2009.  I will hopefully be able to show you more progress soon!

Have a great weekend!
