Michele over at the Quilting Gallery is at it again... She is hosting another fantastic Blog Hop Party with Giveaways!
If you are new here, welcome! My name is Ginette and I am a 4th generation quilter from the Ottawa area, in Ontario Canada. I love quilting and everything about it. Please feel free to look around, I love sharing my passion!
If you are a regular here, welcome back!
I can't think of a better way to beat the winter blues than to have a party, and one with giveaways is that much better!
This time around, I am offering a Frixion pen, some decorative buttons and a mug rug, made by yours truly!
I just bought a ticket to go see Ricky Tims on August 1st. I am so excited! It is the first time I see someone who is so well known in the quilting world!
So to enter my giveaway, please leave me a comment and tell me if you have ever taken a class or been to a lecture featuring someone well known in the quilting world. If not, maybe you can share who you would like to see some day.
I will be picking a winner via the Random Number Generator on March 14th. I am willing to ship internationally so anyone is eligible to win, as long as you leave an e-mail address so I can contact you.
Now head on over to the Quilting Gallery's Blog Hop Party page and enter the other awesome giveaways!
Fun giveaway... Thank you! I haven't yet seen or taken a class from someone who is "famous", but would love to take a quilting class from Angela Walters one day just because she appears to be such a cool person! :-)
ReplyDeleteNice giveaway...I love the friction pens. I have only watched videos of Ricky Tims....luck you!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel very fortunate to belong to a quilt guild that often hosts national and international quilters. I remember fondly attending a lecture by Becky Goldsmith. While on a week-long quilt trip some years ago, another group I was in was lucky enough to find Marianne Fons in her shop in Iowa. She took pictures with us and of course, we bought a lot of fabric, books, and notions.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe not internationally known, but my good friend Maureen Goldsmith is quilter/designer extraordinaire, has been Quilter of the Year for Canada, has judged at Quilt Canada a few times, and will soon be featured on some on-line quilting classes. Coincidentally her son is our son-in-law! I regularly attend at local classes she's presenting. And Joan Statz from Alberta is one of my favorite designers, and I've been privileged to attend at one of her classes at the Sewing and Crafts Show a few years back. Love your mug-rug, so nice and sunny! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteHi Ginette, I am a friend of your Aunt Rachelle. I saw Ricky Tims at Quilt Canada in 2000. He played the piano at our final banquet as well as putting on a few workshops. He is quite good. Love you giveaway. I will be a new follower.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab giveaway! Your mug rug is lovely and Frixion pens sound amazing but I've never seen one here! And I've only been to two very small shows where some quilts were on show as a sort of side issue. We're in such an outback in the uk, at least where I live!
ReplyDeleteI have not.. I would like to see Angela Walters and learn free motion quilting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful giveaway! I've never taken a class, but I've seen Eleanor Burns and Kaffe Fassett in person.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen anyone. I am also new enough to quilting to know know anyone. Thanks for chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI have only been to a huge quilt expo, but I loved all the ideas and samples.
ReplyDeleteOne day many moons ago, I was very new to quilting, and been waiting for this day for ages and fell sick at the last minute, but still dragged myself along to the lectures of Mary Ellen Hopkins whom actually invented Fat 1/4s.
ReplyDeleteProbably didn't take in as much info as I should have, but was a great day none the less.
Thank you for the chance to win this cute prize, Cindy Aus.
I haven't taken any classes with well known quilters :(. I believe our quilt guild is lining one up for later this year. :) very cute mug rug!
ReplyDeleteQuilting is a rarity in my part of the world...its something you see in certain homes and only in recent years have we heard about quilt classes (which are really limited and very expensive to attend too). So my knowledge is basically from blogs....especially yours. Thank you for sharing your wonderful world of stitching with the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteLove your mug rug...so cheerful.

Love that mug rug! I went on a quilting retreat last year hosted by Amanda Jean from Crazy Mom Quilts. I was new to quilt blogging at that time and couldn't believe she lived in my state! It was a little surreal. :) Thanks for the chance to win! krpaschke@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteYour rug mug is adorable! What a great prize package. I am new to the quilting world so I have not really seen any speakers and have only attended classes at my favorite Quilt Shop here in the desert. So I think I would really love to see Marti Mitchell.... I am doing her BOM and using her templates and am in template love!
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower of your blog and super excited to get to know you and learn much from you!
Just in case my "no reply blogger" issue has not been resolved my email address is stasalynn@hotmail.com - but I do think it has been.
Love giveaway. I have not been to any classes
ReplyDeleteNice giveaway, thank you! I haven't taken any classes.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great prize package. Way back in 1989 our quilt guild hosted the NQA quilt show and I was fortunate enough to take classes from Marsha McCloskey, Ami Sims, and Judy Mathieson.
ReplyDeleteI had the opportunity to attend the Ricky Tims Quilt Seminar in Rochester NY last year.
ReplyDeleteHi Ginette,
ReplyDeleteI am too a SAHM of 2. It's fun and does give me time to quilt.
In 2007 or 2008 I took the Ricky Time Seminar in upstate New York. He was with Libby Lehman and Alex Anderson. What a thrill! You will have a great time. Since then our local guild has had Kaye England and Sharon Schamber to talk and give classes. Both were equally stimulating and challenging and bring amazing work to share. Best wishes on your adventures.
Ricky Tims -- woo hoo! How much were the tickets? Thanks for the giveaway, Ginette!
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the Quick Strip Paper-Piecing class by peggy Martin on Craftsy, but else have not been part of any classes yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win! :)
I took a class from Lori Holt years ago when she was just starting out. It was so fun! She is just as beautiful as her fabric and patterns! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have never taken a live class with someone famous but am now enjoying classes on Craftsy.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a lecture before. My only connection is through these fantastic blogs or magazines. You are very lucky to be able to see Ricky Tims. I have never even been on a cruise or even a retreat. I just consider myself very lucky to have a computer to have access to your blogs and meet new followers. Your giveaway is very awesome and one I would like to win. Thank you for the chance you have given to all of your followers and making the Beat the Winter Blues Blog Hop so much fun.
ReplyDeleteSandi Timmons
sandit1@sbcglobal.net
I've gotten to listen to Melody Miller and Ellen Luckett Baker (both local) talk about their design processes. It was super cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to enter your giveaway. I am pretty new to quilting and have never seen a famous quilter before. Nut prior to quilting I was addicted to machine embroidery and did get to participate in a hands on event With John Deer of Adorable Ideas and an Event with Brian Bailey from Babylock & Designers Gallery. Those are 2 big names in the machine embroidery world.
ReplyDeleteNo I never been lucky enough to take a class. I hope one day to see Mabeth Oxenreider.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute little mug rug! And I love Frixion pens... and the buttons... Okay, so I really would love to win your giveaway :*) My Guild has a national teacher come in every year, so I have been blessed to take classes from some of the best names in the quilting world. I'm going to Mountain Quiltfest Show next week and taking a class from Paula Nadelstern!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet giveaway, guaranteed to chase those blues away!
ReplyDeleteI've never been and probably never will be able to take in a famous speaker of quilts. Because of this, I love the internet and informative blogs:)
Thank you for the chance to win some sunshine!
Nope no classes by famous quilters. Ricky Tims is coming to Calgary too, maybe I should go to that.
ReplyDeleteI haven't taken any classes by famous quilters. I live in a small city in Arizona and I took a class at Joannes Fabric store..I would love to go to one of Bonnie Hunt's classes.
ReplyDeleteI have taken several classes from Eleanor Burns. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteNo, I have not been fortunate enough to take a class from anyone famous, though a dream would be to take one from Eleanor Burns.. Lyn, I am sooo envious.
ReplyDeletebandkgram (at) hotmail (dot) ca
I haven't taken a class from someone famous but I would love to meet Jenny Doan... she is just darling!!
ReplyDeleteLast year I took a class at HMQS. Not famous or all but I did it. This year I plan to take at least 1 more class at the next HMQS here in Utah in may.
ReplyDeleteRichard and Tanya Quilts
That's a lovely giveaway. I've never participated in any quilting class or retreat, so I've never met any famous people from the quilting world. It's on my list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!
I was so disappointed to hear that Ricky Timms was going to be in Ottawa on August 1'. We are going to be in Mexico for a wedding. Boo who!
ReplyDeleteHiya - I went to the fat Quarterly retreat in London last summer, and did a class with John on wonky log cabins, and also a class with kerryberry on paper piecing...... does that count?? have fun xx
ReplyDeleteI've never seen any famous quilter... But I'd love to go on a quilting retreat and meet some!
ReplyDeleteI'm a self taught quilter, my mother taught me to sew when I was 11, so at my age it was long long ago. Love your blog it looks like a ton of fun. I've not seen a famous quilter in person, did take a class a Handcock fabric's in Clarksville, In. few years ago, it was for designing your own of someone else's clothes, the class was for a sewing system that is from the Lutterloh system international. If you get the chance to go to one of these class'es I believe you'll enjoy yourself. It'll blow your mind how fast you can make up beautiful patterns for yourself, family or as a business. I believe you can get this system's tools and books and everything you need to learn it over the inter-net. i use to see Ricky Timms, on the simply quilts show, Alex Anderson had great guests there.
ReplyDeleteIf I could take a quilt class from a famous person I think my first would be Anita Shackelford, her work is awesome, I've learned so much from her Book Surface texture. Trapunto is a favorite technique of mine, stuffed and corded work takes a bit longer, but its well worth it. Happy Quilting
Deb
P.S. my second famous quilter would
Elanor Burns, got to love her
sweet personality
I have not but I have seen on Youtube.
ReplyDeleteLove your giveaway.
I am a yellow lover so that mug rug is mine! I met Kaffe Fasseet way long ago when he was known only to the knitting world. a true inspiration to me regarding fearless use of colour. I know another famous quilter, Alice Chancey!!
ReplyDeleteI've never taken a quilting class at all! I'd love to take one from Ginny Beyer or from Kaffe Fassett. They have amazing senses of color.
ReplyDeleteI love that mug mat -- hexagons and yellow make me happy!
I've taken classes from two well known Canadian quilters (I'm from SK) Anna Hergert and Martha Cole. Both are art quilters. Have you heard of either of these impressive, inspirational women?
ReplyDeleteI took a class from Joen Wolfron several years ago and it was wonderful. Thanks for the chance to win your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI've not been to a class, or lecture, from a well known quilter....if I had the chance I'd love to see Eleanor Burns. Thanks for the sweet giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteI have not been to a class or lecture and I'm so new to quilting that I'm not even sure who I would want to see. I would love to attend QuiltCon or something similar though!
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice giveaway. Thank you. I've taken classes from experts and enjoyed every single one of them. I want to learn more and more as I go along. I especially enjoyed a class with Nansi Bainard, who is a local (WA State USA) miniature quilt artist. We learned a lot that day. I hope you'll come by and visit at Prairie Cottage Corner when you have a chance. I've been following you for a while. So nice to visit.
ReplyDeleteWe just had Dominique Erhmann presenting a demo at our guild, and I think we are going to hear lots about her in the coming months! She does 3-D quilts and has been accepted in the Paducah show this year!
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't taken any classes by well known quilters, altho I have taken many local "little" classes. I would be interesting in something by Bobbie Hunter
ReplyDeleteI would like to see Eleanor Burns, I think that would be awesome. Love your giveaway, thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI have never taken a class by a well known - but some of our guild members are excellent teachers with lots to share.
ReplyDeleteI've taken several classes from well known quilters. My favorite is Master Quilter Sharon Schamber. I am in total awe of her talent! I wish that I could afford to take one of her retreats where I could spend several days working with her, but I'd have to win the lottery first! LOL Thanks sew much for this chance to win your generous giveaway and enjoy your class with Ricky Tims :-D
ReplyDeleteback2loghome (at) yahoo (dot) com
The only quilting classes I've taken have been online from Quilt University, with Daphne Greig, Karen Combs, Jane Hall, & Susan Purney Mark. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMy first famous person was Debbie Caffrey, I had made about 10 of her Mystery Quilts when I saw her at the Mesa Quilt Show. Next, I took a class with Bonnie Hunter, these are two amazing women.
ReplyDeleteI took a workshop with Cynthia England. she is internationally known for her picture piecing and I really enjoyed her class. Thanks for a chance at your lovely giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHi from the Wet Coast - Vancouver! I have not seen 'a famous quilter' or fabric designer, but I hope some day!
ReplyDeleteI never studied in a formal way, mostly used tutorials... :) Many thanks for this great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'm quite new so I don't know many big names. Since I'm from Europe it's easier to find classes on Craftsy. Everybody I know loves Angela Walters so I might take her class one day. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI have had the pleasure of meeting Eleanor Burns at the Houston International Quilt Festival two years in a row. I would love to take one of her classes, but she did demonstrate both years at the quilt festival. Fun, fun, fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
Wow, I absolutely LOVE your mug rug!!! I am a self taught quilter, never have taken a class. I here you can learn a lot.
ReplyDeleteJust have never wanted to put myself out there. I am currently involved in two BOM skillbuilder groups and it is amazing what you can learn from others experience. Have fun!
I love the font on your blog. I've never been to a quilt show. I dont really like crowds, but would love the classes.
ReplyDeleteOh how fun that you're going to see Ricky Tims. I am sure you will absolutely love it. Recently I was speaking to someone I just met at her new shop she opened who has been to see him and actually was the President of a local Quilting Guild in my area and was the lucky one to drive him around while he was in town. She said he was the most down to Earth and fun person to talk to and that if I ever got the chance to go to one of his shows that I should not miss it as they are just awesome. I have never been to his show or anyone like him. I have taken a beginning quilt piecing class however.
ReplyDeleteYour giveaway is so fun. I love hexagons and those pens too. I just mentioned to my husband not long ago that I must get the purple one. I only have two so far but do want others. I think they need to sell a white one though. Last night I was trying to mark on black felt and my white marking pens did nothing so I was wishing I had a white Frixion pen. lol
Thank you for the wonderful giveaway. Have fun at the show too.
I took a class with Cindy Needham. I was naive, didn't know names when I signed up, otherwise I never would have dared but it was absolutely wonderful. I have an amazing time, learned so much and enjoyed myself absolutely. She was incredible. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI have taken a LOT of classes from elinor peace bailey who is Heather Bailey's mother-in-law. I feel very fortunate.
ReplyDeletePaula Nadelstern. She comes across as a bit cold on TV, but in person she is delightful and warm and helpful and inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI've never taken a class from anyone well known!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to take a class from Denyse Schmidt!
I have never taken a class I am just stumbling on my own!
ReplyDeleteI've taken classes - but if I had the chance, I'd take a Bonnie Hunter class. I love watching her QuiltCam.
ReplyDeleteI haven't taken a class with anyone well know yet. I would love to take a free motion on the longarm class someday.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

I have never been able to take any classes like that. I would love to but in this small community that would be impossible. Love the mug rug. Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteI have not had the pleasure of taking a class by someone well known. I would love to take a class by Elizabeth Hartman.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky enough to live in San Antonio, Tx, so I've gone to the Houston Quilt Show several times, and taken a number of classes. The instructor I haven't had a chance to take a class with yet, and would love to, is either Jo Morton or Roberta Horton (and I wasn't even trying to rhyme!) Ummm, now that I've typed this, even more names come to mind so I'll stop there...
ReplyDeleteI love that mug rug!! Love the color combo. I have never gotten to a lecture or class but I did bump into Nancy Zieman and was so starstruck I couldn't stop her to ask for an autograph. I was literally speechless due to shock.
ReplyDeleteHi, I have never had a class at all and I live in a in a small town and can't travel. Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI am a real newbie so havent had the opportunity yet. But someday I would love to see Pat Sloan

ReplyDeleteI have taken classes on Craftsy. My favorite is Leah Day's Free Motion Quilting Class. I am so impressed with her ability and style.

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and for the opportunity on the draw. I would love to take a Bonnie Hunter class. I think she is great. bonnielarson58@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI attended a lecture with Eleanor Burns once and found she is in person just like you see on TV. She is funny and very knowledgeable about quilting. Bonnie Hunter is a person I would love to see in person sometime. Also thanks for nice giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard a quilting "celeb" speak but how cool would that be!
ReplyDeleteI took. 2 hands on classes with Sue Stewart who won several prizes at Puducah and Houston with her embroidered quilts.
ReplyDeleteI've never taken a class with any one well known. But it would be fun! Thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would like a class with Bonnie Hunter or Pat Slan. I have learned so much from them , thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteLong before Ricky Tims was "famous" he came to our quilt guild, and I took a class with him. It was really great, as the class was only about 20 or so students, and you really got to have some personal time with him. He even played the piano that was in the room (the class was held at a church) during the class to entertain us!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Lynette Anderson - just love her work.
ReplyDeleteThe mug rug is beautiful :)
I would like to take a class with Jennie Rayment - I love the way she twiddles with fabric.
ReplyDeleteI've taken classes with Gloria Loughman - and I loved them ! Thanks for a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI live in Australia so my answer may not mean much to you but I have had several classes with Sally Millar of Millamac designs. I am obsessed with her applique quilts.
ReplyDeleteCath @ Bits 'n Bobs
I have never taken any classes with a famous person, but if I had the chance, I would love to take a class with Alex Anderson. Thank you so much for a great giveaway.

I actually saw Ricky Tims in concert and have one of his CDs. He is a concert pianist and sings. He is such a fun entertainer as well as giving so much to the quilting world. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI have met many famous quilters...like Alex Anderson, Marianne Fons and so on.

ReplyDeleteI love your mugrug!!! SO pretty! I have attended a lecture by Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville. It was great!
ReplyDeleteI have taken a class by Mark Lipinski. He was funny and entertaining, but the Simple Simon class was a dud. He always answered questions with - "anything goes...just play" which didn't solve any problems. He did seem to be a fabulous designer though. I can't wait to take a class this spring with Libby Lehman - now that gal's got talent. Great giveaway! I love hand made items. info@explorefibre.com
ReplyDeleteIch bin noch Anfänger und hatte leider noch keine Gelegenheit einen Designer kennenzulernen...danke für die tolle Verlosung

ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway! Have a Happy Day! :)
ReplyDeleteNo, I've never been to a class led by anyone famous. I took a class on how to use a rotary cutter many years ago that took place in Pam Lintott's shop in Dorking, England and she's quite famous for the jelly roll books now but she wasn't the teacher! That probably doesn't count :-)
ReplyDeleteI have taken classes from well known fabric designers -- Aneela Hoey and Lucie Summers . One was an embroidery class and the other was a fabric printing workshop. Loved both.
ReplyDeleteI would love to attend a class by Peggy Martin. I love her quick strip paper piecing and have just finished watching her class on Craftsy. Thanks for the opportunity of winning.

Recently I heard the enthusiastic and inspirational Bonnie Hunter talk about her scrap quilts. I wish I were even half as productive and creative as she is. -- soparkaveataoldotcom
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to see Eleanor Burns in person. Thank you for the opportunity to win your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy bucket list would include Eleanor Burns, as she seems like she would be so patient, and Mary Fons as she seems so cool and hip :) I'd also add Bonnie Hunter, because although she is very talented, she seems so unassuming and down to earth.
ReplyDeleteI had classes just quilting with friends. hugs
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a famous lecturer. I would like to see Aneela Hoey. Thanks for the chance to win.
