Blogger's Quilt Festival - Throw Quilt

My 2nd entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival over at Amy's Creative Side, is called Sound Check.
Although I have entered this quilt in the Throw Quilt category, in our home it will be hung on the wall in my husband's office/music room.

I always wanted to make a plus quilt and when I got these fat quarters, I couldn't decide what to do with them.  After a few weeks of indecisiveness, I thought I would give them a try with this kind of pattern.  I took out my graph paper and began to draw.  I am so pleased with the result!

When my husband saw the quilt top completed, he decided it would be his.  The last quilt I made for him was a gift on our wedding day, over 11 years ago!  Since he liked this one so much, I decided he could have it.

As I said before, this quilt will hang on the wall in his office/music room.  It will help with the acoustics in there and that is how he came up with the name Sound Check.

I gave myself a challenge with this one and decided to quilt it myself on my mom's Gammill.  It is only the 5th quilt I quilt on the longarm.  I was a little more nervous than with the last quilt but I think it went fairly well.

So here are some quilt stats for you:

Blogger's Quilt Festival - mini quilt

I have been seeing all of the lovely stuff going on at quilt market over on Instagram. Instead of wishing I was there, I decided to participate, for the first time, in the Blogger's Quilt Festival!

So my first entry is the mini quilt I just completed for the Dreaming of Spring Mini Quilt Swap.

I had so much fun making this mini quilt.

The pattern is from the book Fat Quarter Quilting by Lori Smith. I love the mix of machine appliqué and piecing. I machine quilted it as well.

Quilt stats:

Quilt measures 16" x 20"

Techniques: machine piecing, machine appliqué, machine quilting all done by ME

Entering this in the mini quilt category for the Blogger's Quilt Festival.

TGIFF - Baby Quilt and Spring Mini

As promised earlier this week, here is a look at the baby quilt I was commissionned to make.

The pattern is Baby Charm Quilt by Elizabeth Hartman.  I used fabric from the Walk in the Woods line by Aneela Hoey.

I decided to quilt it on my PFAFF using straight lines at half inch intervals on the red and pink fabrics and one inch intervals in the white sashing.

I thought these pink dots were really cute for the back, and the binding is a Riley Blake fabric.

I also finished my Dreaming of Spring mini quilt for the swap hosted by Michele from the Quilting Gallery.

This pattern is from the book Fat Quarter Quilting by Lori Smith.  I love this book because it mixes applique and machine piecing and all of the quilts in the book measure 16" x 20".

Here is a picture of the label I embroidered.

I love this quilt and am a little sad to have to send it off.  I truly hope my swap partner will like it and giving it away just gives me an excuse to make another!!

Have a great weekend everyone!  It is Mother's Day here on Sunday and I will be spending a part of the day with my mom at a quilt show!!

Linking up to TGIFF at Quilt Matters.  Head on over and check out some great finishes.

I am still here!

Wow, it's been a while... I have been quilting but with all the busy-ness of life lately, I haven't gotten around to blogging. I do want to tell you that I am on Instagram now and have been posting there as quiltingprincess. I also have a new Facebook page: The Quilting Princess. Please feel free to like my page, I have been posting pictures of what I am working on and love to chat with all of you.

So up until last night I was working on binding 4 quilts! Yes 4!! I am on a mission to finish stuff.

Last night I finished the binding on the baby quilt. I just need to affix the label and I will be able to share it on Friday for TGIFF.
Next up is my Dreaming of Spring mini for the swap hosted by Michele of the Quilting Gallery. I have to mail that one on Monday, the plan is to have it done this week so I will be able to share it on Friday too!
Of course Rosie has been keeping me busy too.
