Some new goals for a New Year

Happy New Year! I know we are almost 3 weeks in to 2015 but since this is my first post of the year, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all health, happiness and a lot of creativity! I have some goals and wishes for 2015 and most of them have to do with my quilting, my blog, and my Etsy shop. I started doing some homework and research this morning and then went ahead and started making some changes here on the blog. I hope you like what you see and look forward to more!

In other news, I went on a retreat with my quilt group this past weekend. I had a lot of fun with my friends and got quite a bit of sewing done.

To start, I finished the top of my Hexie Garden.

I am really looking forward to quilting this one. I want to practice some new free-motion quilting on the longarm this year and this will be a great quilt to start!

Then I made some pillowcases for my girls using fabric from Aneela Hoey's Hello Petal line.

I also finished the top of my "modern" medallion. Some of you will remember me working on this quilt in 2013. It is from Rachel Hauser from Stitched in Color's class Handstitched. Every section of this quilt, from the center medallion to the outside border has a different hand stitching technique.

I went to my mom's on Monday and basted my medallion quilt so that I can start the quilting. I will be using pearl cotton to hand quilt this one. Hopefully I will be able to show you some progress photos on that soon.
