Some hand work

I needed some hand work to finish off the summer and my mom had 3 quilts ready to bind.
I offered to bind this beautiful Batik quilt for her.

 Isn't it gorgeous!

My mom has an awesome collection of batiks and I think this quilt is just beautiful!

Also, I just finished registering the girls for gymnastics for the fall.  My 6 year old is starting pre-competitive gymnastics at a new club.  So, I was thinking I need some hand work to bring to all these practices.  I decided to dig through some UFOs and found this stained glass piece.

I don't even know when I started this... I think it is at least 10 years old!
I think i can finish it before Christmas this year.

Yet another baby quilt!

This is the baby quilt I was working on here and here.

The top is finally done and it is now gone to be quilted.  I should be binding it some time next week.
I just love how it turned out.  The fabrics are all by Me and My Sister Designs for Moda.  There are a few different collections mixed together.  It measures 51"x58".  I got the pattern at Moda Bakeshop but changed it up a bit and added some blocks and made the borders bigger.  The lady who is buying this quilt really wants a quilt her new niece can use when she will be a toddler.

I also wanted to share with you some cute little charms I won.

Bethany from Make Me A Quilt had a giveaway on her blog and I was the happy winner!!  Yay!!

Aren't these fabrics yummy?  I can't wait to start making something with them!
Thanks Bethany!

School starts on Tuesday so I am hoping to have more sewing time and more time to blog as well.  I am going to have to keep busy so I don't miss them too much!

TGIFF

Already Friday!
My finish this week is only a quilt top.

I have been loving all the different "cross quilts" out there in blog land and really wanted to make my own.
My quilt group decided to have a challenge this year where we all had the same fabrics and made a project of our choosing.  I thought this fabric would be great for this kind of pattern.  I only added the solid black for the inner border.  I designed it myself using good old graph paper and a pencil.  It turned out to be a large lap quilt at 62"x72".

My husband LOVES this quilt!  The last quilt I made for him was a wedding gift and we've been married almost 11 years.  I think it's time!
He has an office/music studio in the basement which still needs quite a bit of work (removing carpet, painting, putting in laminate flooring...), he has however said that he would love this quilt on the wall as a wallhanging that would be very useful also to absorb sound when he is playing guitar.

I am so pleased with this quilt!  Now I am trying to figure out how I am going to quilt it!  Any thoughts?

TGIFF - Happy August!

I finished this one on Tuesday night... just in time!

You may remember cupcakes and July.  They are all patterns from this book:

So that's my finish for this week.  I am linking up to TGIFF over at Missy Mac Creations.  She made the cutest little ticker tape quilt... definitely a project I want to make some day!

Really Random Thursday - 8/2/2012

Live A Colorful Life
Cindy over at Live a Colorful Life started Really Random Thursdays.
My blog is all about my quilting but I thought it might be fun to post some photos of other random things going on in my life.

So here is what I have been looking at every morning this week.

What have you been up to?

WIP Wednesday

We are having so much fun watching the olympics!  My 6 year old is really interested and as a budding gymnast, has a million questions about what's going on.  My favorite being: "When will you register me for the Olympics?"  Ah, to be young and have dreams...

I am surprised at how much sewing I am getting done even while watching the Games.

I finally finished this top on Monday.  It is now gone to my mom's to be quilted.

On Friday I showed you this quilt:

and told you I was now working on a matching one.

Here is the progress I have made so far.

Theses 4 blocks have been pieced:

These are laid out on my design wall, ready to be pieced:

And here is the stack that is still waiting:

This is the pattern I am using.  I have used it before here.  This time I am making 30 blocks so that the quilt will be a little bigger.

Hope you are getting some quilting done!

I am linking up to The Needle and Thread Network.
